Blogging at School

francefosseblog1.JPG

We’ve set up a class blog using the same blogging software as you see this site through (wordpress).

The pupils use the blog to record what they’ve been doing at school and what they have been looking at on the internet. One of them has been writing about the frogs spawn he has and we’re regularly updated with its progress, it’s really fascinating stuff. The pupils are also encouraged to let us know about what has happened in their own lives too.

Blogging in the classroom provides an outlet for pupils to be creative in their writing, improving their literacy skills, their communication skills and their ICT skills as well. For the reluctant writers in any group it encourages them to put pen to paper, so to speak, and provides them with a place to show what can be achieved. It also provides a real purpose for their writing.
