Communication Stuff

From BT Better World comes this aid to teaching communication – From Caveman to Spaceman (click on Start Activity to begin)

Why not use an animation to get the ideas across? The BT cartoon, highlighting communication ‘From Caveman to Spaceman is highly entertaining, very funny and the messages are extremely easy to assimilate into lessons.

It includes almost 40 talking points that can be stimulated by various sections of the cartoon.

Story Starts Stuff

Story Starts are sets of video set for use in Literacy. Each programme consists of a set of short drama sequences that can be used in the classroom to stimulate creative writing amongst primary pupils.

Each story start presents a different scenario and characters which are open to interpretation by pupils and teachers.Although aimed at KS1 initially they’re great for KS2 as well.

Each individual story start ends on a cliff-hanger, encouraging pupils to continue the story from this point.

Log in and they can be downloaded to be used away from an internet connection.

Weather Stuff

If you’re teaching weather during geography lessons then take a look Teachers TV’s ‘Weather Around the World’.

There’s a video to watch, lesson plans, weblinks and an interactive map to download and use.

You’ll need to register and log in but there’s loads to then use.

Myths and Stuff

E2BN have this great site for looking at Myths and Legends. The site is for pupils, teachers and all those who enjoy stories and storytelling.

The British Isles is rich in myths, folktales and legends. Almost every city, town and village in Britain has its own special story, be it a Celtic legend, Dark Age mystery, strange happening or fable.

Once you have read and listened to some of their stories, you might like to try your hand at creating your own version of one or even creating a brand new story. On this site they have a ‘Story Creator’ which will help you to use pictures to create a graphic version of a story. THe online creator comes with lots of backgrounds, characters and props and you can even add your own pictures.

Well worth a look!
